Overview of the Available Cyprus Grants

The use of the Internet is today - especially for small businesses - a key option to increase competitiveness, to expand their business opportunities and facilitate their daily operations. Given the rapid developments in information technology and Communications, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism has launched the development of the "Online-Business", which is implemented within the strategy of the Ministry to promote e-commerce in Cyprus.

These Cyprus Grants are part of the "Online-Business" plan.

Through this Plan, the Cyprus Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism grants subsidies - under the rule "De Minimis" - for developing the use Internet and e-commerce by SMEs.

The project aims to develop and promote the use of electronic commerce by SMEs (as recommended by the European Commission dated 06/05/2003 and numbered 2003/361/EC) and to exploit the potential and opportunities offered the Internet and new technologies in the information society for expansion of these enterprises.

The Plan will be implemented during the period 2009 - 2011 Applications from beneficiaries may be made at predetermined times that will be announced by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism. The first call for applications made during the first December 2009 - February 2, 2010, and this is the second invitation.

Applications are evaluated and approved on a priority until the total annual commitment of available funds for the Project. When the commitment funding is completed, the Cyprus Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism will stopped accepting applications to be secure new resources.


They prescribed two (2) different packages for financial assistance from which each company may choose some costs. Each package,
include mandatory costs that the firms will necessarily need to take to obtain such grant.
